Lyrical - Beginner/Int. ages 12 & up
Combines strong ballet technique with freedom of movement and expression. Lyrical dance can also be described as a mix between ballet and slow jazz movements. This class includes balance, control, flexibility, and interpretation of music with dance. Simultaneous enrollment in ballet and/or hip hop is highly encouraged to take this class.
Hip Hop – All levels ages 9 & up
This class combines jazz with the latest urban street styles. This class starts with a conditioning warm-up and teaches contemporary street dance. Innovative choreography and street style sets this genre apart from any other creating a high energy and athletic atmosphere.
Modern - Beginner/Int. ages 12 & up
Uses free flowing movements to strengthen the body, creating a contemporary style. There are no boundaries in this class. Diverse genres of music will be used.
Worship Dance ages 11 & up
This class unites body movement and worship. The emphasis is on liturgical movement rather that high technique and skill levels.
Mom & Tots/ Kindermusik ages 1&2
This class encourages your child to be creative, to initiate their own ideas and to respond in their own ways, while your active participation gives them the security they need. As you play instruments, sing, move, and explore, you’ll uncover an engaging musical world while building your child’s confidence, self-control and communications skills.
Tiny Steps ages 3&4
Introduces dance in a fun and playful way for your very young dancer. This class includes warm up games, rhythm awareness, creative dance forms and basic ballet.
Creative Movement ages 5 & 6
This class is similar to Tiny Steps but incorporates more terms and positions. This is a fun foundational class that introduces children to ballet while instilling within them a love of dance that they can carry with them for many years to come.
Ballet - Grade 1 – 3 ages 9 & up
Ballet is the foundation of all dancing. All of our ballet classes are classically based from the Sonshine Christian Ballet Syllabus.* Classes start at the 'barre', which supports the balance of the body while completing various combinations designed to increase strength, mobility and 'turn out.’ The discipline required for ballet develops a heightened sense of grace, poise, and technique needed to excel in other areas of dance. Participation in an exam at the end of the year is optional but encouraged.
Ballet - Pre Primary and Primary ages 7-12
Introduces the primary curriculum of classical ballet through the Sonshine Christian Ballet Syllabus*, while improving motor skills and development. The students leave with a solid foundation in ballet positions, grace, and energetic choreography. Participation in an exam at the end of the year is optional but encouraged.
Ballet – Beginner Teen/Adult ages 13 & up
An introduction to ballet, exploring basic technique through barre, centre work, and choreographed routines.
Tap - Beginner/Int. ages 10 & up
This class uniquely teaches rhythm and coordination while strengthening the feet and legs. Tap has proven to be a fun and entertaining discipline.
Ballroom ages 16 & up
Beginner and advanced levels including Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba and Swing.
*Sonshine Christian Ballet Syllabus
The Sonshine Christian Ballet (SCB) Syllabus has been in use internationally for over a decade. Based on the Cecchetti, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), and Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) methods of ballet, the SCB Syllabus was written to raise the standard in Christian ballet studios.
